DIY DAY!!

I Love the grey walls in our "formal living room". They were pink, and I didn't paint them that color! This is going to be the playroom so I also need it to be a fun room. That is why I added the green pom poms to the cornice boards. I also LOVE lime green!? Of course the baskets weren't black, that would have been too convenient!! And notice that P? It's the same font we used at our wedding! Cool, huh?!
Below is a picture of the little details for this room. Waiting on the built-ins and I have committed myself to recovering my old steam trunk, again, but this time in brown alligator "skin" wallpaper!

Thanks again, to my mom, the seamstress! Still haven't gotten that sewing machine out!

Home Sweet Home?

What is home? Where is your home? Is it really just where you lay your head at night? Is it truely where your heart is? How do you know your heart isn't lying? Is it some walls and a roof to keep you covered in the storm?

I went back to my childhood "home" this past week. It was a great time. I don't have many friends there anymore, they have mostly moved away. But it's fun when you do run into someone still living there (or moved away and they are home) at breakfast. It reminds you of everything you left. And sometimes why you left. I spent 20 some years growing up on the Outer Banks. Such an amazing place to grow up. I mean it's the beach!! Who doesn't like spending time at the beach? It's my favorite place to visit, any beach really. For years this was home. I cried the last night in my bed, in my room, in my house. I was leaving for San Fran and my parents were selling our house. It would never be my home again.

They didn't move far. They now live on a lake. I got used to visiting "the lake". As unfamiliar as the house was it was still all so familiar. Maybe because I got to see some of the building? And most of the people that built it were from the beach & were familiar. And now this house has become "my parents house" and sometimes I call it "home". It comes out either way. However, I know I can always lay my head down there.

But now I have my own "home". Here in the triangle. I love my home. It's the first house I've ever owned. It's warm (when I am not pregnant!!) and comfortable. It's where CP and I started our life together. It's where I brought my boys home from the hospital. It's where our busy lives join everyday at the dinner table. It's where I lay my head at night in my big gushy bed. It's where I say my prayers and think about all the blessings in my life. It's where I think about tommorow and dream about the future.

So, I leave you to think; what does home mean to you?

Freeze Frame!

Freeze Frame!

We tried taking birth announcement pictures this morning. Posted are what we got. Not so successful. I'm not sure anyone could have gotten the boys to smile or cooperate. It was tough! Did I mention there were 3 adults?
But look at those outfits! I mean really! How cute are my boys?! Shout out to Auntie Jenny for the infant outfit. She got that for Q before he was born, meanwhile I had bought the shirt for him in size 2 because I saw it and LOVED it..great minds think alike. I was so excited when I discovered it hidden in B's closet amongst his clothes.
I knew they would be the perfect outfits to bring to the beach and it's beautiful setting and take the most amazing pictures...that was the plan at least. Oh well.
I wish I had another person to video tape the event!

No really, give him to me. I want to cooperate!

Why would we both look at you??

The best of the rest?!

You might think I'm crazy..

That's ok, I am!
Yesterday, I took the boys to Richmond with my mom. We met lots of family for lunch. Wow crazy, I know! No, what's crazy is...we took them to an art show. I wasn't so worried about B, seeing that he is pretty immobile. However, Q on the other hand I was worried about. BUT, as usual he was AWESOME!!! He got directions from his Zanney he was not to touch but touch with his eyes. Which, he promptly reminded me of as I went to look through someones photos.
Here are some pictures from our adventure!

This is B's Great Great Aunt Vicky.

She is our favorite Great Great Aunt. She made Q's blankey and NOW, NOW B has his very own!!! YEAH!!! She also made us a travel size one, that we CAN'T live without!!
This is our very cool cousin Michelle.

That's right Richmond, Lite 98's Shelly Perkins belongs to us!! I know, we are lucky!

This is Q and some cousins!

And then there is GGP (GGP=Great Grand Pappi) Enter Disclaimer here (He named himself that!) We picked this luncheon spot so the kids could run around with out bothering anyone. But all the kids were much more interested in GGP's games on his i phone. Have no fear, they did get some good running in!

And then, THEN there is Zanney, as Q refers to her. Not only was she my excellent grandmother she is the boys GREAT GRANDMOTHER! I know, she looks great! Q had mucho fun hanging with her while I looked at fantastic art. The reason for this art show trip. (My) Granny Suzanney is one of the directors for Gallery. We think she did a fantastic job! I also thought she might enjoy showing off her newest family members. I was right, she did. Here is Q and Zanney at the door, greeting guests.

That's right Richmond, Dr. Suzanne Jenkins belongs to us too!! I know we are even more lucky!!
How did we get so blessed??!!
If the background from lunch looks familiar, it should. It is where Chad and I had our reception! And where LOTS of people did some hard core dancing! So like I said, it was a good place for the kids to run around. Gardens on a rainy day=not very busy!!

Not Me Monday!!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

This week I did not take Q to Target in his pj top. I would never do that! My boys are always dressed! He did not go to target in his pj top, because I was not going to have that battle. There is never a battle of the wills at our house. My boys do everything I request!

I did not have to tell Q NOT to eat the ice off the carpet. First of all he would never spill anything, much less eat it off the floor. That's just gross.

Q is never clumsy and I would never laugh at him. Not me, that's just plain mean!

After deciding to keep Q home today instead of school, I was not ready to take him after an hour of the 2's. Not me, I LOVE having him home from school and would NEVER take him when I am off.

It's DIY Day!

I guess my first DIY Day was my ECU garage painting but I'm not sure if that's considered a DIY project? Or is DIY just anything you get done yourself? In that case, what about the dishes and laundry and chores? I do those myself, well, most of the time!

This DIY project was one of my favorites! I think they turned out super cute! Hope the recipient did as well. I am pretty sure she does! My friend Amanda is having twins next month. That's right, NEXT month! Did you hear me boys? I said NEXT month! She also received monogrammed ones, but since I didn't do the embroidery, I thought it would be cheating if I posted those pics!

The pirate ones obviously belong to B! Our future Pirate!

And I guess if we are being totally honest, I didn't do the sewing either. It's not that I couldn't, and I would have, but the sewing machine and I have not talked in a while. Those got sewn at Lake Gaston at Grandmas. That's right, I said it, I admit it, Grandmas. See, I'm telling you, what would we do without her?!!

Studies Show...

A study at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, says Q&B will be 71" (give or take 4").

Poor boys, that could mean 5'7". That is only 1" taller than me! Of course Q is already talking about being big and strong like daddy and then he will go to work! If he only knew you didn't have to be so strong to sit in front of a computer, cause that is what mommy & daddy do. Ok, sometimes we get up and walk to the printer! And if he only knew that going to work isn't always that great! Oh Q, there is plenty of time for that. If you are lucky you will only have to work until you are, um, about 75! Don't rush it, my man! Everything he eats we tell him will make him big & strong (when we are "discussing" vegetables)...it seems to be working, check out those muscles!

In case you want to figure out how tall your little person will be here is the formula: moms height (in inches)+dads height=height total (if a boy add 5" have a girl -5") %2 and this is your total! Don't forget to give or take the 4"!!

One Word Wednesday!

Because for obvious reasons (like, I have a newborn that doesn't like to sleep through the night yet) I am awful at consistantly posting, I have come up with One Word Wednesday. I will post a pic or 2 and one word that comes to mind when I see it!

Hope you enjoy!

SCRUMPTIOUS!!!

Not Me Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Just today B's belly button fell off and I certainly didn't get overcome with a heat flash and weak knees. I would never, it's just his belly button stub. I mean what's so squemish about that?

I certainly did not wait so long to deal with my matrnity leave paperwork, so long that they closed the case. Not me! I am way too on top of my paperwork for that!

I would never succomb to buying a picture package when getting B's 1mo pics taken. Not me! I have way more strength than that! Even if it is a really good deal at a GREAT photographer!

I did not make my grocery trip about junk food today. Not me! I only eat healthy fresh and local food! My neighbors Dr told her today to indulge in whatever she wants to eat in her last trimester with twins. I guess I was living vicariously through her. Note to self...You aren't pregnant with twins!! Oops!

How wonderful life is

while you're in the world.

One month ago today my life changed drastically again. B was born. My second child. My second son. One of the most amazing things that has ever happened in my 32 years of existance. How many times does your life change so dramatically in a single minute? You can prepare and prepare all you want, but life will never EVER be the same again. And the fact that this change is so amazing and awesome. Do I dare say empowering? Not that you have any such powers at all. But being a mom...nothing compares. It is simply divine.

So in our short 4 weeks we have learned that being the parents of 2 sometimes feels like 5 and other times feels like we were born to do it and this is so "easy". He is still waking every 2 hours to eat at night. 3 hours last night, but I am pretty positive that was just a fluke. He has outgrown his pampers newborn diapers and all his NB clothes! That breastmilk is some pretty powerful stuff, but I don't remember Q growing that fast?

Here is a look at him earlier this week..

I know, I know....he's adorable! thankyouverymuch!
